Monarch

Monarch is a groundbreaking, multiline refreshable braille and tactile graphics display developed by APH in partnership with HumanWare. Where traditional braille displays show a single line of text, Monarch presents a full page, up to ten lines, at once, and renders tactile graphics on the same surface as the braille. That means a student can read a paragraph, feel a diagram, and explore a data table without switching devices or waiting for an embossed handout. Built on the open Braille and Tactile Graphics standard, Monarch supports the Tactile Viewer for instantly displaying graphics, a full word processor, a calculator, audio playback, and direct access to digital braille libraries. It is designed for the classroom and beyond: rugged, portable, and ready for everything from a math lesson to a novel. Monarch is Federal Quota eligible, so qualifying students can receive it through their annual allocation.
